Abstract

Organofluorine compounds are important materials used in regular activities because of their versatility as functional materials, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. A large proportion of drug substrates possess this essential component. Thus, in modern synthetic organofluorine chemistry, the development of safe selective fluorination of organic molecules is one of the most important and appealing topics. In this context, various ionic liquids have emerged to promote the conventional and electrochemical fluorination of organic compounds under cost-effective and eco-friendly conditions. This review conveys a brief overview of selective fluorination with the assistance of efficient ionic liquids including imidazolium, pyrene, amine-HF, phosphonium-based, polymer-supported and others for the last decade.
