Abstract
An investigation was made of reflection and diffraction of planar shock waves over a circular concave wall. Experiments were conducted on a shock tube equipped with a double exposure holographic interferometer for shock Mach number of 1. 25 in air. The shock wave transition from regular to Mach reflection over the circular concave wall with zero initial angle was compared with an analysis. In the analysis, it is assumed that the Mach reflection terminates when the corner singularity originated at the leading edge of the circular concave wall terminating at the triple point can reach the circular concave wall. Good agreement was obtained between the present analysis and the experiment.
