An analysis is presented of the various shock wave configurations which will occur when a Mach reflection propagating along a straight wedge encounters a sudden increase or decrease in the slope of the wedge surface which changes from theta **1//w to theta **2//w. It is shown analytically that four different reflection processes may be expected depending on the incident shock wave Mach number (M//i) and the two wedge angles ( theta **1//w and theta **2//w). The analytical predictions have all been verified experimentally.
