N2 - The special and general theories of relativity have led to many attempts at axiomatization of the theories, as well as of the notion of space-time. Some of it appears to have been explicitly motivated by (see, for example, [44]) Hilbert's sixth problem: "Mathematical Treatment of the Axioms of Physics" [15]. The work presented in this monograph is, by contrast, much more limited in scope. The quotations given below will set this in perspective.
