Abstract

The reliability of phase measurement unit (PMU) considering uncertainties in various modules is computed using the fuzzy logic tool. The Markov reliability model for phase measurement unit is implemented and logic gate representation is developed for the same. The theory and configuration of PMU for synchronization detection is also presented for the compilation and operation. PMU is an important device for intelligent SCADA and smart grid operation and management. It is also useful for the detection of islanding, isolation, and protection of microgrid. This study is useful for designer and protection engineer.
