Abstract
The elastic deformations induced by electric field in nematic layers were simulated numerically by minimizing the free energy in the course of an iterative process. The director distribution and the development of the deformation is presented for various nematic systems ranging from the Frederiks transition to the deformation of the assymetrically aligned and weakly anchored layer.
