Abstract

During Egypt's revolutionary experience (1952–67), both officials and non‐officials, institutions and persons, partook in the process of formulating the symbols and values of the revolutionary ‘new’ order, and disseminating them within public and private spheres. This article focuses on several aspects of the process of remodelling the country's rich historical past, and describes various ways that were used to diffuse the new symbols and values.
