Abstract
An essay is presented about the public debate on secularism in Israel. The author describes the arguments Israeli intellectuals hold with the religious position, and explains why this can be labeled as an imaginary polemic. He shows that the secularism that characterizes these intellectuals is built around their view of religion. He notes that secularism is an all-embracing world view, similar to a religion, which it is trying to replace
