N2 - In this paper, the possible use of Distributed and Collaborative BeaMForming (DC-BMF) is analyzed within a HAP-based scenario, with the goal of enhancing the capability of a single sensor to communicate its data to the HAP. In particular, self-localization techniques for WSNs performing DC-BMF are studied, and a closed form solution for beamforming degradation is derived, which allows to select the collaborative sub-network dimension on the basis of the required transmission gain.
