Abstract

The thermodynamic and kinetic properties of molecular conformation change in ssDNA were studied by measuring the steady state and fluctuations around thermal equilibrium. Focus was on the consequence of ssDNA stacking on its dynamics. Overall, the results provide strong evidence that ssDNA dynamics are so highly coupled to the sequence that is debatable whether the persistance length is a valid physical parameter at all.
