Abstract
A case of severe infection in a right inguinal hernia mesh graft after a perforated appendicitis is presented in a 47-year-old man. The patient had a right inguinal hernia repair 8 years ago, with polypropylene mesh graft, placed by a transabdominal laparoscopic approach. He is now operated by an open approach for a perforated acute appendicitis. In the postappendectomy period, he presented with recurrent right lower fossae abscesses drained first under computed tomography guidance. The patient fully recovered only after surgical removal of the infected mesh graft. To our knowledge, there is no report of such a complication of perforated appendicitis after a transabdominal laparoscopic mesh graft repair of an inguinal hernia.
