Abstract

A primary antibody response to DNP and NIP haptenic determinants was induced in vitro by conjugates of these haptens to a variety of chemically defined synthetic carrier molecules. Induction was performed by incubating spleen explants with the immunogens for 5-30 min in saline solution. No culture medium constituents were added. The length of pulse required for stimulation with each immunogen was apparently determined by both the hapten and the carrier molecules.
