Abstract
We describe here our preferred technique for intramedullary distal nail locking. This is a free hand method, which relies mainly on the antero-posterior fluoroscopic view of the distal locking hole. Using this method spares the need for the classic "Perfect Circles". Ten different orthopedic residents performed the procedure on 31 distal locking screws. The mean drilling time was 3.1 minutes, and lasted less than 3 minutes in 87% of the cases. We conclude that this technique is simple, quick and reliable.
