Abstract
Liquefaction-induced deformations for geotechnical structures can be significantly affected by the effects of pore pressure diffusion and the associated void redistribution. Numerical simulations using a critical-state compatible constitutive model are shown to reproduce the pattern of void redistribution that was observed in a centrifuge model test. The capabilities and limitations in our current abilities to account for void redistribution in nonlinear deformation analyses are discussed.
