Abstract

There are several differences between adults and children with regard to skull-base anatomy. In the pediatric population, benign tumors are threefold more common than malignant tumors. Most common skull-base approaches can be used for children and adolescents. In general, sarcomas occurring in children and young adults tend to be chemotherapy-sensitive. Skull-base procedures produce a negligible net effect on the cosmetic and functional outcomes in children.
