Abstract

During the last 20 years, a process of spontaneous sedentarization of Bedouin nomads has been taking place in Israel. But the spontaneous pattern conflicts with regional development plans. Conscious planning efforts eventually succeeded in integrating sociocultural and regional development considerations and gave rise to a successful and unique type of settlement. Examines the evolution and structure of the newly emergent Bedouin town, and presents planning concepts and their consequences.- Editors
