Abstract
Surveys selected ways in which solar energy can aid desert settlement. Examples (from the Negev), are given to show how cost-effective techniques can reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in existing desert settlements where solar retrofitting should also be seen as a means of gaining experience. -B.W.Beeley
