Abstract
Noncontact and contact ex vivo solar surgery experiments on fresh chicken livers were described. Comparisions to results for comparable tissue transformations generated with visible and near-infrared surgical lasers were presented. The tissue transformations were achieved with solar surgery. Experimental results demonstrated that solar surgery could produce lesions up to several cm3 in volume with a surgical efficacy as good as that of lasers.
