Abstract

The solubilities in water of magnesium-l-lactate, calcium-l-lactate, zinc-l-lactate and ferrous-l-lactate were determined between 278 and 363 K. From these solubilities, the apparent molar enthalpies of solution at the saturation point were calculated. Vapour pressures of water over saturated solutions of the mentioned above lactates and aluminum-l-lactate were determined as a function of temperature. These values were then used to evaluate the water activities, osmotic coefficients and molar enthalpies of vaporization.
