Abstract

The impact of uncertainties in the calculated reactor design performance parameters has been generally recognized together with the resulting economic implications. The sources of uncertainties in the calculated parameters are either due to uncertainties in the nuclear data, or in the modeling techniques, and in the calculational methods themselves. Several topics related to the question of modelling uncertainties are considered. The first topic is related to the use of the generalized bias operator method for modeling uncertainties. The method is expanded to a more general form of operators. The generalized bias operator is also used in the inverse problem and applied to determine the anisotropic neutron scattering law. The last topic discussed is related to the question of the limit to accuracy and how to establish its value.
