Abstract
Israel's national urban renewal project has in the first few years already made substantial progress. This progress is presently undergoing evaluation. In this article, the severe problems faced by the more remote new towns in Israel's Negev Desert are touched on. The lack of planning attention to the dynamics of the system is criticised, and a systems approach is recommended.-Author
