Sound propagation in the two dimensional magnetic system K2NiF4

Abstract

We have measured the classic constants C11, C33, C55 and C66 in K2NiF4 as a function of temperature between 4.2 and 200 K. A small velocity and attenuation anomaly was observed in the C11 mode at TN = 97.2 K.
