Abstract

The operational (algorithmic) approach is now considered to be the most effective method of achieving high spectral efficiency. Two main groups of channel assignment methods. Dynamic and Fixed, are known, but until now namely the latter one is mostly used in existing cellular systems. In this correspondence the attractiveness of Dynamic Channel Assignment (DCA) strategies is estimated not by the activated degree of the frequency reuse but in terms of the gain in the Grade of Service (GOS). We show that spectral capacity slightly depends on the DCA algorithm and the effectiveness of spectrum usage provided even by the simplest of them significantly exceeds this parameter of the Fixed Channel Assignment (FCA) strategy.
