Abstract
In this paper, we offer analytic estimates for the critical time of a growing reinforced viscoelastic rod, in relation to the growth rate. We consider a hollow cylindrical tube, fabricated from elastic material. An external load is applied to the tube and a process of continuous accretion of the material beings. The process of accretion involves filling of the inner cavity of the tube with a viscoelastic material and attachment of additional elastic reinforcing elements. Stability conditions are derived.
