Abstract
The stability of a geometrically nonlinear viscoelastic cantilever beam is investigated by using the concept of the deformation map. The beam is loaded by two forces and a bending moment at its free end. Boltzmann's representation is used to described the stress-strain relation of the material. The use of the deformation map enables the boundary values problem to be converted into an initial conditions one and provides the whole qualitative picture by its topological structures.
