Abstract

The 'homogeneous' and 'gradient' materials were obtained by the method of compacting and sintering the briquettes from titanium carbide TiCx and the rolling by steel melts. The possibility of their composition and properties regulation by heat treatment (hardening and tempering) is shown. In impregnation, good fusing of the carbide and steels particles takes place that is accompanied with the redistribution of alloying elements, iron and titanium between the metal binder and titanium carbide. The metalloceramics was impregnated with the high speed tool steel R6M5 at 1500°C and the carbon steel U8 at 1450°C.
