Abstract
In situ measurements of the UV-visible reflectance of silver metal liquidlike films (MELLFs) were carried out at various angles of incidence and polarizations for several different MELLFs. A theoretical framework combining small-particle size effects and electromagnetic interactions at high concentration of metal colloids was suggested and used to analyze the spectra. Typical diameters of the silver colloidal particles, of which MELLFs are composed, are found to be in the range 1.5-2 nm. The volume fractions of the metal at the upper reaches of the films are found to be 49-54%.
