Abstract

Using haemoglobin the authors analysed the possibilities of a method based on the quantitative study of the inductive-resonance transfer of energy from the fluorescent label attached to the β-93-SH group to haem. This phenomenon has been used to evaluate the distance between the functional groups and the active centre in the case of reduced methaemoglobin and carboxyhaemoglobin and haemoglobin denatured with urea and also to investigate the conformational transitions with change in the pH of the medium (2-12) and temperature (10-54 °C).
