Abstract
It is shown that the technique of nuclear resonance scattering of gamma rays can be used to obtain information on Debye temperatures of metal hydrides. A significant increase of θD of the Ni atoms and an isotopic effect was observed for hydrogenated and deuterated Mg2Ni. The results are discussed in relation to the electron-phonon interaction, the crystallographic structure and the interactions between neighboring atoms.
