Abstract
Angular velocities distribution along the vertical axis was studied on a cold model of the liquid core of a continuous steel ingot of circular cross-section. Melt rotation in a harmonic and amplitude-modulated RMF was investigated. The features of the obtained angular velocity profile are interpreted on the basis of "external" friction model in the assumption of flow beltramization and helical character. Stirring efficiencies in case of harmonic and amplitude-modulated RMF application are compared.
