Abstract
The three stages which occur in the development of cotton cellulose microstructure over a development period of 25 days are investigated by the spin-label method. Improvements in the physical/mechanical properties during boll growth from the 25th day to full maturity is shown to be correlated with low-amplitude movements in the less-ordered structural fields.
