Abstract
Under a constraint of spectrum shortage, the optimization of frequency scheduling is, practically, the only way to eliminate the problem. A basic task in this field consists in minimum-band frequency scheduling for the prescribed totality of simultaneously operating transmitters with the overlapping service areas. Irregularity of three-dimensional structure is characteristic for broadcasting and communication systems. It results in combinatorial character of optimal-frequency scheduling task. It is pointed out that the availability of high-performance approximate algorithm is of decisive importance. The structure and optimization of the algorithm are outlined.
