Presented is the epidemiological picture of all adolescent suicide reported to the authorities between 1963-1966. Some unexpected patterns of suicide in relation to ethnic groups and boy-girl differentials emerged. The second phase will include mainly case histories' analysis to examine certain theories of suicide and to test some assumptions pertaining to the nature of suicide among youth in Israel.
