Abstract
An experimental study of a supersonic, pulsed, chain-reaction-pumped HF laser is presented. H//2 plus F//2 reactants are pre-mixed and then expanded through a supersonic nozzle into the laser cavity, whereupon a high rep-rate electrical discharge initiates the reaction. The laser output characteristics are measured as a function of the distance downstream from the initiation point. The results are compared with the lasing characteristics of a cold reaction-pumped laser.
