Abstract

We apply the symmetry approach of coherence in spontaneous radiation processes to non-radiative donor-acceptor energy transfer. A physical mechanism which can account for fast transfer in the local donor region as dependent on the acceptor dynamical symmetry is presented and incorporated into our general model developed to treat energy transfer in non-uniform or uniform co-doped fluorescent solid state materials. Analytical expressions for donor lifetimes are presented and studied.
