Abstract

Barium-doped nanocrystalline lanthanum ferrite was synthesized by the method of co-precipitation and subsequent annealing at 1000°C. The maximum degree of doping of La 1−x Ba x FeO 3−x (x = 0.1) was established before the appearance of other phases. The introduction of Ba 2+ cations leads to an increase in the average crystallite size from 25±4 nm for x = 0 to 42±4 nm for x = 0.1. The formation of particles characterized by a complex magnetic structure combining two types of magnetic ordering was found. The synthesized samples of (1−x)LaFeO 3 : xBa 2+ (x = 0, 0.075, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25) are magnetically hard materials.
