Abstract
The [(EtOC10H12)Pt(C13H11N 4S)]·Et2O (I) complex was synthesized by reacting [(EtOC10H12)PtOEt]2 with dithizone, C 13H12N4S. The complex was isolated from ether in the form of dichroic crystals and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The Pt(II) atom has a square-planar environment forming a σ bond Pt-C(9) (2.049 Å) and is π-coordinated to the double bond C(2)=C(3) (Pt-C, 2.151 and 2.196 Å) of an ethoxydicyclopentenyl group. This atom also forms a σ bond Pt-S (2.270 Å) and a donor-acceptor N → Pt bond (2.145 Å) with a dithizonato group.
