Abstract

A complex of monohydroxo-monothiolate-substituted acetylene was prepared by the reaction of CpMn(CO)2[C2(CH2OH)2] with tert-BuSH in the presence of aqueous HBF4. This complex can react with W(CO)5 · THF to give the heterometal complex CpMn(CO)2[CH2=CH(CO)CH2SCMe 3]W(CO)4. According to X-ray diffraction, in this compound both the substitution of one OH group for a thiolate group and the alkyne isomerization into vinyl-keto-thiolate hydrocarbon take place, the manganese atom is coordinated to the terminal double C=C bond, and the tungsten atom is coordinated to the sulfur atom of the thiolate group and the oxygen atom of the keto group to give a five-membered intramolecular ring.
