Abstract

(OSi)Chloro[1-(1,1-dimethyl-2-trifluoroacetylhydrazonium)methyl]dimethylsilane, Cl(CH3)2SiCH2(CH3)2NNC(O)CF3 (I), has been prepared and its X-ray structural study (R = 0.33 for 2737 reflections with I ≥ 2σ) has been carried out. The Si atom has a trigonal-bipyramidal [3 + 2]-coordination with the O and Cl atoms in the axial positions (SiO 1.879(1), SiCl 2.432(1) Å). The hypervalent ClSiO interaction results in the chelate six-membered silacarbofunctional cycle which has for the first time been studied by the use of X-ray crystallography.
