Abstract

The reaction of 2-methyl and 4(5)-methylimidazoles with acetylene in the presence of Gu2Cl2 leads to the corresponding N-vinyl derivatives. 1-Vinyl-4(5)-methylimidazole is formed as a mixture of two isomers differing in the position of the methyl group.
