Abstract

The monomeric complex Cp′Cr(CO)2S(C5H 4)FeCp (Cp′ = MeC5H4, Cp = C 5H5) (I) and the dimeric complex [CpCr(CO) 2]22-SC5H4Mn(CO) 3]2 (II) were synthesized by the reaction of [Cp′Cr(CO)3]2 or [CpCr(CO)3]2 with metal-containing disulfides (CpFeC5H4) 2S2 or [C5H4Mn(CO)3] 2S2, respectively. The complexes were studied by X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. Complex I contains a short double bond Cr=S (2.136 Å), whereas, in II, the Cr-S bonds with two thiolate bridging groups are single (av. 2.448 Å), and a Cr-Cr bond is absent (Cr(1)-Cr(2), 3.672 Å).
