Abstract
The reversible posttranslational modification (PTM) of lysineresidues by acetylation is mostly associated with the regulation ofchromatin remodeling and gene expression. That said, in recentyears, thousands of potential lysine acetylation sites have beenidentified, demonstrating that similar to phosphorylation andubiquitination, lysine acetylation is a widespread PTM thatoccurs on proteins involved in diverse cellular processes.
