The boiling point elevations of electrolyte solutions. Activity and osmotic coefficients at the boiling point temperatures

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Using data available in the literature (mainly from the Timmermans tabulation), the experimental boiling points of electrolyte solutions at constant pressures are expressed as a function of the concentration of the dissolved electrolyte in water. The elevations of boiling points are used in the evaluation of the Pitzer parameters of the activity and osmotic coefficients at the boiling point temperatures for 67 electrolytes of the 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 and 2:2 types.
