Abstract

During the Reformation, as Christian scholars demonstrated more interest in Hebrew language and the Jewish roots of European civilization, John Donne's prose works highlight this intellectual trend as Donne draws on specific exegetical, lexical, rhetorical, and thematic strategies tied to Hebrew traditions. Goodblatt also includes reproductions of the Hebrew Rabbinic and Geneva Bibles for reference.
