Abstract

Tunable cost-effective WDM transmitters have recently became of tremendous interest in WDM networks allowing l:N rather then traditional 1:l protection. The capability of directly modulating these lasers will dramatically reduce the transmitters cost. Here the mode stability and side mode suppression ratio are studied and accordingly the transmitters performance is optimized.
