Abstract
First, an overview of Catholic elementary and secondary schools in the United States is presented. Second, research on the demand for a Catholic education is reviewed. Third, the effects of Catholic schooling on various outcomes, including academic achievement, educational attainment, employment, earnings, civic participation, bad behavior, religiosity, and the quality of public schools, are discussed.
