Abstract

This study examined the self-concept of elderly widows as compared to elderly wives as reflected in human figure drawings. To date, very little research has been carried out specifically investigating the question of whether characteristics of human figure drawings are associated with the drawer's social role. This study sought to contribute to the current understanding of this issue by comparing the figure drawings of the two groups of women in terms of length, overall size, and placement on the page.
