Abstract

It is now almost half a century since Maske (1955) discovered the bright red band of zinc: dithizone staining in the brain that marks the gluzinergic synapses in stratum lucidum of the hippocampal formation. These 50 years have witnessed a dramatic, now exponential, growth in our understanding of these gluzinergic synapses.
