title = "The maintainability analysis and conceptual design of on-orbit service (OOS) system for space station",
abstract = "Thorough consideration of maintainability design for space station has great significance to maintain the normal function and prolong on-orbit service life by replacing on-orbit replaceable unit (ORU). Chinese space station will be completed in around 2020, which has great demand for logistics support and maintainability. However, the theoretical and technical reserve of Chinese aerospace industry for space station are relatively scanty. The International Space Station (ISS) and Mir space station adopted many maintainability design methods and have great effect. The theoretical life of Mir space station and ISS are 5 and 15 years respectively, while the actual life is extended to 15 years and 20 years respectively via maintenance. Besides, the astronauts have successfully solved several failures which threaten the safety of space station and survival of crews via replacing ORUs during the operation of space station.",
