Abstract
Most of the pharmacy laws were enacted a long time ago and have long been neglected. As a result, while we see tremendous changes in pharmacy and greater involvement of pharmacists in practice of medicine, many of the laws ignore all these modern changes. Thus we witness the strange situation where the law is far behind modern developments. Pharmacy today is different from what it was only a few decades ago. Pharmacists have moved from behind the counter and become members of health teams. There are different kinds of pharmacy practice areas. There is a need not only to amend the laws but also to change pharmacy and medicine education. This will enable expanding pharmacists’ responsibilities and allowing them to have their proper position within the health care system.
